- Decide which Apple Computer you'd like to buy
- Engage your department's purchasing agent (e.g., Administrative Assistant or grant account holder) to:
- Speak with an Apple Store representative at 1-800-800-2775 (Education Number)
- Specify the Web Proposal Number
- Purchase the Apple Mac with either a Purchase Order or Purchase Card

| Processor | Pentium Core 2 Duo (any speed) | Required for supporting Mac OS 10.4+ |
| RAM | 1 Gigabyte (1024 Megabytes) | Required for supporting Mac OS 10.4+ |
| Video | Dedicated video RAM | Required for supporting Mac OS 10.4+ |
| Hard Disk | 80 Gigabytes | We suggest storing your data on the network so a small drive is plenty for the system software |
| CD/DVD | CD-R/DVD Combo Drive | We use CDs and DVDs to install the system and it also provides you a backup option for data you choose to store locally |
| Firewire | 1 x FireWire 400 port | We use a FireWire 400 port to assist with installs and backups |
| Network | 10/100 Network Connection | Most modern computers come with 10/100, and all Macs we recommend have a 10/100/1000 connections |
| Operating System | Mac OS 10.4+ | An operating system must be purchased to take advantage of the University's upgrade program and to provide support for the system in the event it changes users or departments |
